On Saturday, October 10th, 2008 the "3rd European Kuoshu Cup" took place in Neu-Ulm, Germany. Host of the tournament was the TRADITIONAL KUNG FU ASSN. GERMANY (TKV) in cooperation with the GERMAN CHINESE KUOSHU FEDERATION (GCKF), represented by Sifu Alexander Czech. International support was given by the world federation of the traditional Kung Fu, the TRADITIONAL WORLD KUOSHU FEDERATION (TWKSF), whose president, Mr. Huang Chian Liang was present at site. Furthermore Sifu Frank Greinacher as chairman of the TKV and the mayor of Neu-Ulm attended the championship. Special prominent guests were Master Jacky Mak (USA) and Master Ho Fang Lok (Hong Kong) as well as Master Robert Simpson from Great Britain as main referee for the full contact fights.
After having welcomed all participants, guests, visitors and referees by the Sifus Alexander Czech and Frank Greinacher as well as by the mayor the tournament was traditionally inaugerated with a lion dance and the march of the 15 participating nations. Special thanks were given to the large number of helping referees not only from the own federation but also from other German and international federations. All orators wished the participants a successful and fair tournament.
About 350 participants with more than 700 starts were registered, thereof 84 full contact fights to be done, which is almost three times more than in the past. The competition was held on 5 rings.
The competion is held in so called forms with defined courses of movements according to their style as well as in semi- and full contact fighting. This European Cup was also qualification for the Kuoshu World Championship in September 2009.
The German Zhou Jia schools Gevelsberg, Haßlinghausen und Schwelm as well as the one from Poland successfully participated with 42 students, from whom 28 could place 42 times in total. Among them were 5 students with 4 placements from the XIN YING TAIJIQUAN TRAINING CENTRE GERMANY, the Taiji devision of the SHAOLIN HUNG CHOY Assn. Alexej Schweigert from the ZHOU GUAN KUNG FU CENTER, Schwelm, could already qualify in the full contact fight for the World Cup 2009. All other students still have to gain some more points during the next two championships (in Alveslohe / Hamburg and Gevelsberg) to qualify.
Sifu Frank Greinacher: "We are glad that our studens have won in such a large number. But our compliments also apply for all the participants who could not place this time, because all of them have shown a good performance as well."
