On the occasion of the "11th International German Championship in Traditional Kung Fu" on May 17th, 2008 held in Gevelsberg Master Victor Chong of Singapore visited the local SHAOLIN HUNG CHOY Kung Fu school that was host of the competition. As already reported Master Victor Chong had coached Sifu Sherry Greinacher during the „1st Traditional Wu Shu Invitational Championship“ in Shanxi, China, where she won the gold medal in the category "42 Steps Competition Form".
The longtime friend of the family Greinacher, who is managing the school, agreed to offer seminars during his stay at the Kung Fu school. Thus, in the morning hours he trained Sifu Sherry Greinacher in Xingyiquan and in the evening he taught her and some of her students Chan Men Taijiquan.
The Chan Men Taijiquan is an ancient inner martial art which was developed by Buddhist monks and which places emphasis on meditation for cultivating the mind and the Qi. This yet quite unknown style was initially demonstrated in the public in 1985.
During this one-week seminar the students learnt the basic exersises and a simplified short 18 steps hand form. Having been very naturally during the lessons, Master Victor Chong took away the prejudice of the students for this grandmaster quickly. He attached great importance on having no learning distress for the students and lightend-up the atmosphere with some jokes and illustrate and metaphorical explanations. Due to his body language even the students with less knowledges in English did not have many difficulties to follow the instructions of Master Chong. He was very generous in imparting his knowledge and answered every question very detailed.
After the seminar all students agreed that they had experienced and learnt something very special. Despite the hard work of practising the lessons were always very interesting and diverting. All students are looking forward to the next year when Master Victor Chong will continue the seminar in Chan Men Taijiquan.
